Put limits in place before play
Decide on an amount you can afford to lose and a time to stop. Keep that money separate from rent, food, bills, savings and debt repayments. Use deposit or loss limits where the operator offers them, and set a reminder outside the casino. Do not raise a limit in the middle of a session or use credit to continue gambling.
Recognise a change in the pattern
Chasing losses, concealing spending, borrowing to gamble or repeatedly staying longer than planned are reasons to pause. So is feeling that a win is needed to pay for ordinary expenses. You do not need to wait for a crisis before asking for support. People affected by someone else’s gambling can also contact a support service.
Time-outs and self-exclusion
A time-out temporarily blocks access to an account; self-exclusion is a stronger restriction intended to help you stop. The available tools and duration depend on the operator. Ask how the restriction applies across any related brands and whether marketing messages will stop. Do not open another casino account to get around a restriction you have put in place.
Consider practical barriers too: remove gambling shortcuts, unsubscribe from promotions and ask your bank about gambling-payment blocks. A trusted person can help you make a plan. These measures work best alongside support rather than as a reason to handle everything alone.
